Christchurch “Interparish Bed & Breakfast” hosts enabled Trish & Terry Twomey, parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima parish in Waikanae, to organise a five day tour for a PFG.

Blessed with great weather they departed Wellington/Christchurch early morning, uplifting their hired mini van at Christchurch airport. The tour included a drive in perfect weather through snow capped hills over the Dyers/Gebbies Pass for a fun day in Akaroa. Some of the group elected to take a cruise down to Scenery Nook, others taking advantage of local attractions.

A later start next day and “at large” in Christchurch visits were undertaken to all manner of local attractions and yes – even shopping! An early rise followed their day at large uplifting the group from the various IPB&B hosts for another highlight – the TranzAlpine, stopping at Arthurs Pass and frolicking in the snow and being taken on a mini tour of Lake Brunner.

Thursday featured a fun day in Hanmer Springs, some electing to climb Conical Peak, a soak in the mineral pools for all and an evening out with the group and their hosts on return to Christchurch.

After attending mass on the Feast of the Assumption, we were all off in the mini van to the Antarctic Centre, followed by a late afternoon flight home.

All agreed it was a fantastic holiday and were very appreciative of the interparish bed and breakfast system and their respective hosts’ wonderful warmth and hospitality.

Thanks and God bless

Trish & Terry Twomey
