Wellington Formation Day - 2006

The Wellington Formation day was held at Plimmerton Parish on Sunday 26th March

St Francis of Assisi once said: ‘one should preach always, and if necessary use words’. Our Passionist Family Group spirituality strives to do this, by emphasising family, fellowship, community, belonging, welcome, acceptance, compassion and kindness.

We who are part of the PFGM in New Zealand face challenges to adjust to the ageing of church congregations and the pastoral strategies within our dioceses. Pastoral plans are encouraging the clustering of parishes which affects parishes with or without PFG’s in various ways, and there is an emerging reality that an increasing number of parish communities will be without a resident parish pastor.

Our formation programme this year examines these challenges. The theme for the formation this year is ‘the Silver box’ and the reason for this will become clear. Each person attending is requested to bring a ‘small silver box with a bow on top’ which you will be commissioned to return to your home after the weekend.
