Hamilton Diocese Formation Weekend - 2005

The Hamilton Diocese Formation Weekend was held 21 - 22 May at Te Rau Aroha camp at Waihi Beach. The weekend was attended by about 60 people, from eight parishes around the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. Unfortunately the team from Whakatane parish were not able to get to the weekend due to the floods at Matata making the road impassable. Fr.Brian Traynor, who had just come from a week long mission at Te Awamutu parish, was once again superb in the way he lead us through a mix of being challenged, while at the same time being revived and invigorated in our various roles in family groups. The theme of "The Potter" was simple yet very effective (see the notes elsewhere on this website)

Much appreciation from the parents to Samantha Davidson, who again did a great job leading the "young peoples centre".

The role play exercise model using a ball balanced on a board was an excellent illustration of the challenges facing all the members of a family group. It cleverly provided a learning model for how we can all quite easily support each other in dealing with the day to day interuptions. Entertainment of the weekend was while all were participating in Eucharist on Sunday, a faulty oven thermostat was busy converting some of our lunch to "burnt offerings", filling the kitchen and dining room with lots of smoke.
