Look at the edging of the very beautiful altar cloth in the photos.  It was crocheted by Patrick Hudson and then the edging sewn onto brocade fabric (sourced from America)  by a member of Patrick and Penny’s Passionist Family Group.

When Father Brian Traynor was in Auckland for Formation Day on 8thJune, he stayed in Howick with one of the Auckland co-ordinating team.  He kindly agreed to celebrate the 6.30pm Mass, with the agreement of the Parish Priest, at Our Lady Star of the Sea.  As it turned out, the flight Father John, who was returning from Australia that day, was on, was delayed, so it was beneficial to the Parish.  The Lord was looking down on us.  The Mass was very moving with a very pertinent homily for Pentecost.

Following Mass the Howick co-ordinators went to dinner at a local Thai restaurant, appropriately called Thai Passion.  Howick’s priest in residence joined the group.
