To all our Family Group Directors, Coordinators, leaders and family

As our Holy Week begins, for our Passionist Family, this is truly a sacred time,  as it is of course for all who follow Christ.  But we Passionists always feel it is extra special for ourselves.  With Mary and John at the foot of the Cross, the moment when Jesus gives mary and John into each other’s care, that  is a special moment when a new family is born.  That caring for each other and sharing the love of Christ is the heart of the PFGM life together.  I think we Passionists all feel we have a special closeness to the story we celebrate and relive each Holy Week and Easter.

I hope this week brings all our Family Groups closer to Jesus Crucified, and closer to each other.  .

Over the last two years, at our monastery in Melbourne, Holy Cross, we now have a special Passion Play in the grounds.  It is an ecumenical  effort, and is repeated On Palm Sunday and Good Friday morning.  It brings crowds of people and is certainly colourful, but  very moving.  It is an ecumenical effort, and most of our Passionist students, as well as diocesan seminarians, join in.

We in the Congregation will be remembering all of you our brothers and sisters, during these special days,  May they be a truly graced time for you all.
Kind regards
Tom McDonough CP
