The van der Gulik Family Group Story

From Jocely Uasike from Auckland
August 2004

They go along Honky Dory
We have left from when we started
3 families, the others have parted
We came along as strangers at first
We didn’t start with a great outburst
But special friends we have become
And have done things, that have been so much fun
The highlight in the beginning was Black Pete
Doing the pipeline hike was also real neat
The children were younger, and once a year we all went
To many different group camps, in buildings, no TENT
Along came the Whitham’s with 6 month old Shaun
A baby no problem, the girls together were drawn
The Archers came along, the numbers went up
Still Angela and Simon thought the group needed a top up.
The fireworks B.B.Q. is always a favourite for young and old
The year in the packing shed it was packed, it was not cold
We have had a Flintstone night on a very cold winters night at Lorelei Place
The S. party and visa versa dinner at Magnolia in the race
Later on we had more class, at the Karaka Lodge
And the Lebanese dinner at Tony and Shardia was posh.
Waiheke visits with the back of the ute full to the brim
It went to visit the vineyards, the guided tours and the swim
Roger and Glennis have hosted some midwinter dinners
They are always activity winners
Sing alongs and funny dress ups we had in the past
Roy and Helen together on the piano were up charged
Joan Wallace came along for the singing
And the others did the swinging
Herman and Erin have taken part
And new generation Briana has made a group start.
Murray and Michelle for a regressive dinner they are just fine
Car rallies can be daunting in a straight line
Jenny White is now Mrs. Milne and we wish them all the best
Chris has come along after many a test.
Best wishes for the future for the both of you
It is a big step for the second I DO
We have roped in Alex, she is good fun
Arrived new to the parish from Howick on the run.
The year planning we always do at the Robinson’s place
Next year again? with a B.B.Q. and a pool race?
Bring new ideas they have to be fun is the main thing
This will keep the group happy and in full swing
If anyone wants to take the group under their wing
Feel free, you can have a fling
We have had a great time and thank you all
We are good friends and have had a ball.

Cheers!!!!!!
