Blankets of Hope

We thought that the shaky rocking and rolling was over but on Monday June 13 we got a nasty surprise. We had one quake of 4.3 at around 12.30pm and another one measuring 5.6 at about one o'clock.

On arriving home later that afternoon we were greeted by two boxes on our backdoor. Imagine our delight when we opened them and they were full of blankets knitted by women from the Glenaeon Retirement Home in Sydney.

The founder of the Passionist Family Group Movement Fr. Peter McGrath had asked the folk from Glenaeon to make blankets of hope for the Christchurch people. A fantastic woman Dianne Magro got the women orgainsed to do the knitting, and then she set about the mammoth task of stitching them altogether. They had been made with lots of love and many prayers for the people of Christchurch.

At a recent gathering of our Christchurch parish co-ordinators, these "Blankets of Hope" or "Wraps of Love" were distributed and will be given to those who would feel the warmth, prayers, love and support sent to us from our family in Sydney.
