Passionist Youth Retreats - North Island 2007

25 youth gathered at Camp Rangi Woods situated in the Pohangina Valley, Manawatu from 25-28 September to part take in the 2007 Passionist Youth Retreat.

Without doubt, these youth were fantastic. Each embraced the program with an open mind and willingness to share their celebrated joys and hurts that life presents.

Brian Traynor CP, who has previously run Youth Retreats in New Zealand, and is known for his genuine interest and affirmation of young people, his simple language and ability to accept each person as they are, was well received. Brian presented on the following topics: Who am I ? masks, roles, self esteem, values, love, friendship, finding God, faith today – right here right now, reconciliation, eucharist and affirmation.

Each small discussion group was supported and encouraged by engaging and interactive leaders who made the time together so much richer with their differing personalities. Paul (Patch), Jonny, Chris and Jane.

There were no boxes to fit into on retreat. Life is simple (great food / no cell phones) and very real (lots of laughs and tears) so each becomes aware of their common internal loneliness and need to be accepted and loved. Strong bonds were formed. We pray that the retreat helps sustain each young person as the continue their life/ faith journey.

If you would like to be contacted with details of when there may be another retreat, email your details to: paulandlinda@xnet.co.nz
